Robert Chen, Coach

Robert founded NYTTF in 2004 because of his love of the game. “It brings me a lot of happiness, and it makes me feel healthy!” says Robert. His passion for table tennis took him to China where he trained at Era Sha Tao and Tian Jing State Training Centers. Robert has trained with world-class players, champions, and coaches including: Thomas Keinath (Germany), Chen Wei Xing (China), and the coaches of Wang Ho, Ma Long, and Jiang Jia Leung.

Robert is also the coach of the NYU Table Tennis Team. In April 2010, the Team gave a remarkable performance at the NCTTA Coed Championships, and became the number one team in New York State, beating out rivals Baruch College and Columbia University.

Robert is also the director of the not-for-profit organization, American Asian Cultural Center of Tribeca (AACCT). This completely volunteer based entity provides community programs in the sports and arts. Learn more about AACCT.

Richard Ling, Coach

One of his greatest achievements is a successful win against five-time U.S. champion and former U.S. Olympic Men’s Coach, Dan Seemiller. He is noted in the History of Table Tennis, Volume 10 by former USATT President/Editor of Table Tennis magazine, Tim Boggan. Read more here.

Atanda is a former Nigerian National Team member and a two-time Olympian for Nigeria (1988 Seoul, Korea; 1992 Barcelona, Spain).

Damien Provost, Visiting Coach/Professional Player

Originally from Nantes, France (French League – Division I), Damien has recently been winning up a storm here in the United States. Recent wins include 2010 Eastern Open: Open Singles champion; 2010 Spinathon: Open Singles champion; 2010 NJTTC May Open Open Singles champion; 2010 Chesapeake Open: Open Singles runner-up; 2010 Mayor’s Cup Open: Semi-Finalist; 2010 Dirty Dozen: two-time champion in May 2010.

Damien has also had successful wins against former USA Team member, David Zhuang (USATT Rating: 2700), Gao YanJun (USATT Rating: 2600) and Jennifer Yue Wu (USATT Rating: 2500).
